The City Council of Astillero bets one more year, and it is already twelve editions, for the support to the artistic manifestations that have as support the new technologies with the delivery of the Video Art Awards. “Marilyn Monroe wants to talk to Warhol” by Christian Flores has won this year the first prize which will be awarded this Friday, July 12th, in the Sala Bret\u00f3n.
Cristina Laza, Councillor for Culture, wished to thank the Regional Government and especially the Directorate General for Culture for sponsoring the second award, which was worth 1,000 euros. Laza has recognized the work of ARKO Gesti\u00f3n Cultural, the company that coordinates the award, which this year also awards the third prize of the contest endowed with 1,000 euros. The main prize of 1,500 euros is awarded by the City Council of Astillero. In addition, in this edition, two works with second prizes without economic endowment have been highlighted.
The Video Art Award of the City Council of Astillero-El Almac\u00e9n de las Artes shows in this XII edition its consolidation, not only at a national level, but also internationally, having received works from all the national territory and countries like Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, Argentina, Israel, Brazil, Chile, USA, Costa Rica, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Netherlands, Japan or Korea, among others.
The jury was made up of: Laura Cobo (Director of the Award \/ Programming Director of El Almac\u00e9n de las Artes), Noem\u00ed M\u00e9ndez (Director at NOCAPAPER Books&More and art critic for ABC Cultural), Jaime Sordo (Collector, President of the Association of Private Collectors of Contemporary Art, 9915) and Juan Carlos Fern\u00e1ndez Izquierdo (video artist and teacher).
